Hi. Im new to the concept of Alexander Technique, and was wondering about the benefits to ones self. We have heard about posture improvement, but can the technique help with any other areas of day to day life? :?

Cheers.

    Hello Streako,

The simple answer is that the Technique can be applied to everything. Given that whatever we're doing - from sitting, thinking, to running a mile or eating lunch - we're inhabiting bodies that generally function automatically, it's going to help if we become more conscious of our habits.

Do you have any particular area of life in mind?

If you'd like to check it out, I've got a whole list of benefits from applying AT on my webpage, at

    http://www.franis.org/Alexander

Taken together, all of them sound pretty much like AT is "good for everything," almost like the snake oil salesman says, I have to admit. If you count how often we move around, then you can imagine how changing the ways you set up movement habits and add them up into skills would affect the rest of your life.

Any particular one you want to talk about more?
